At one time Ingrid and Gregorio were great foes, and were sent on an assignment to kill each other, instead of murdering they start to love each other and take retirement to have children of their own. They then get captured 10 years after their retirement, and now it’s their children’s responsibility to rescue them and protect the world.
The entire ensemble of old pros play their designated roles well; standing out are Cumming, whose trademark impishness fits this role like a glove; and Danny Trejo, playing a nice guy for a change and pulling it off wonderfully.

The visual effects don't really hold up 10 years later, but Spy Kids is still a charming, energetic, inventive kids' flick that balances its goofier side with its a sense of dramatic maturity.
